Dear Reader,
Welcome to
my online portfolio! If you are visiting this page, chances are you are on the
lookout to add a new team member to your organization. As a recent college
graduate, I am looking for a challenging position that will allow me to grow as
a professional. With the completion of my BA in English, I am particularly
interested in a position that would require me to apply my writing and editing
skills, especially in an administrative position.
For the last
several years, I have spent the majority of my vacation time volunteering at a
large elementary school in Hoover, Alabama. At Rocky Ridge Elementary, I have
come to enjoy the challenges and variety of tasks associated with working as an
administrative assistant. At Rocky Ridge, I have performed a wide range of
secretarial tasks, including filing, helping with payroll, scheduling meetings,
and taking calls. I have also worked on several large projects for the school,
including new student registration.
In May,
2010, I edited and compiled Rocky Ridge’s school-wide safety manual, my
largest, most successful project with them thus far. Taking the previous manual
and reworking it into its newer, more comprehensive version tested my problem
solving and writing skills. In the end, this 122-page document was so
successful that it is now used as the template for every facility in the Hoover
City Schools district. For a preview of this document, refer to the Work Samples page.
In addition
to my time spent at Rocky Ridge, I also have paid experience performing a
variety of secretarial and administrative duties. In my current position as the office manager at Avalanche Roofing & Exteriors, it is my job to make sure everything runs smoothly. This means I must coordinate with individuals in each department to ensure our customers receive the best customer service possible.
One major project that I am working on right now is the creation of a paperless project management system for Avalanche Roofing & Exteriors. With this system, each step of the roofing and home repair process will be assigned to a specific individual, and I will oversee the project as a whole. It is my hope that this system will prevent things from falling through the cracks and will help us to better care for our customers.
Working in
the front office of a busy elementary school taught me to be adaptable and
efficient, but my current position at Avalanche Roofing & Exteriors made me perfect those skills.
My position as office manager requires extreme adaptability. Working with all our departments on a daily basis has made me capable of shifting gears with a mere moment's notice. This ability to transition smoothly and
efficiently from one task to the next is essential to success of our program,
and will translate well into your any position within your organization.
I am
confident that I will be a powerful asset to your company, and would like to
meet with you to discuss this position in further detail. I am available for an
interview at your earliest convenience and may be reached by visiting the Contact Me page. I
would like to thank you for considering me, and I look forward to hearing from
you.
Sincerely,
Audrea
